Tommy Lee Sparta Hints In New Song He Was Setup By Friends

Tommy Lee Sparta released two new singles on Friday, April 9, where he seemingly addressed his legal troubles.

The Dancehall artiste, whose real name is Leroy Russell, also released the new animation for his recent song “Weh U Woulda Do” a few hours after dropping a gritty single, “3 Point.” The later, which is another way of referring to life, is a gritty dancehall track that involves its fair share of violence and threats.

In the song, Tommy Lee Sparta sings, “Some boy nuh bad none at all, shoot yuh face make the frowns drop off. Funeral day dem close you off hear the church dem a sing to God. Run thef**king place like a f**king race, hear a bolt take off. Dem swear say a rain a fall when mi pop off the 40 ball.”

The song, produced by Donsome Records, comes after news that the 33-year-old deejay may be implicated in crimes that could put him away for life. The “Spartan Soldier” deejay has had many run-ins with the law over the last six years. The deejay’s luck seemingly ran out late last year when he was held with an illegal firearm and ammunition. The deejay pled guilty to the charges in March and will serve three years behind bars.

Tommy Lee Sparta made headlines again this week when police sources reported that the gun he pled guilty to having is linked to at least two murders in the corporate area and three cases of shooting with intent.

The murders are that of renowned dancehall personalities Owen Clarke, also known as Roy Fowl or Father Fowl, and Alphanso Harriott, also known as Oney British – both of the British Link Up Crew. Both men were murdered in 2019. Tommy Lee’s attorney, Donahue Martin, continues to deny his client’s involvement in any such crimes.

Tommy Lee Sparta’s second release for the day possibility contains the answers about who actually committed the crimes he may soon have to answer to.

“Weh You Woulda Do” sees the dancehall deejay meeting with his inner demon. “Weh yuh woulda duh? Warn yuh bout yuh fren longtime An as yuh tun yuh back yuh get a knife juck. Weh yuh woulda duh? Far wi a come from school days half a pencil an a book, Weh yuh woulda duh? Play supa hero like Christ an end up duh wah Christ duh fi yuh, What dem guh duh?” Sparta deejays.

The song stands centered on the themes of betrayal and disloyalty, where Tommy Lee Sparta insinuates that he was framed by a friend. We should point out that no formal murder charges are made against the deejay.

Tommy Lee Sparta’s “Elegante” Debuts No. 2 On USA iTunes Reggae Chart

Tommy Lee Sparta’s “Elegante” has debuted No. 2 for the first time on the iTunes Top 100 Reggae Songs list, the highest achievement for the artiste career.

The song, which features Jah Fabio and Cashan, is produced by Contractor Music and boss Lady Muzik which originally targeted the Latin market. According to Jamaican-based Contractor Music CE Sean Edwards, the song was released on March 26th on all digital platforms. He said that the achievement is one he expected but is still elated by the song’s success.

“It feels good to wake up and see Elegante which debuted today on the USA Itunes Reggae Chart at No. 2 which features Mexican rising star Jah Fabio and local dancehall sensation Cashan,” he said.

He added, “it’s the highest he’s ever Tommy Lee Sparta has premiered on the iTunes chart and it’s the highest he has ever been on it, so it’s a good feeling.”

Tommy Lee Sparta was sentenced this week to three years in jail after pleading guilty to illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. Many raised eyebrows at the low sentencing since gun offenses typically attract a 10-15 year sentence according to the sentencing guidelines for the gun court. However, his Attorney Donahue Martin told reporters that the court took a few mitigating factors into consideration to the credit of the artiste, which included his plea at the first date he appeared before the judge and his time as he awaited trial.

In spite of his demise, Edwards says the achievement is a good one for Tommy Lee Sparta. “this shows that music cannot be incarcerated. You can lock up the person but you can’t lock up the person. The music is free can go around corners, can penetrate walls and is powerful,” he said.

He added that Latin fans have helped to push the song up. The artiste, even though behind bars, intends to capitalize on his musical success with more music and merchandising deals, Edwards says.

Tommy Lee Sparta joins a handful of incarcerated dancehall stars in prison, including Vybz Kartel and Ninjaman.

Tommy Lee Sparta‘s day of reckoning is finally here, and as the law would have it, the “Blessings” deejay has been hit with a 3-year sentence behind bars. The seriousness of the situation, which will see the deejay not being able to spend time with his family, has seemingly been lost on Jamaican Twitter, who have been pumping out clever memes to address how they feel about the situation the Sparta Boss and other local entertainers have found themselves in.

One Twitter user joked that the proclaimed King Of The Dancehall Vybz Kartel had called Court. As such, the likes of Laden, past members of Portmore Empire Tommy Lee Sparta and Shawn Storm, and one-time sparring partner Ninjaman, have all found themselves in the big house(prison).

“Kartel file fi everybody,” came the hilarious tweet. “Sting can keep a prison this Christmas,” came another clever suggestion.

Sting, which is considered the Greatest One Night Show On Earth, built its reputation on the back of high-profile clashes against the hottest acts in Jamaica.

Ninjaman has dominated the Sting stage for many years, leaving lesser opponents gasping for air and lyrics. A Vybz Kartel vs Ninjaman battle would definitely turn heads, and with both men more mature, the fist thumping of 2004 Sting should be a thing of the past. Vybz Kartel is also pretty famous for his Sting 2008 battle against Mavado. With the Gully Gad spending much time in the States, it would be left to his son Dante Brooks to relive the legacy, especially with a life sentencing to consider.

Kartel was the first to be incarcerated for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams. His trial of 65 days is said to have been the longest in Jamaica’s history. In 2014, the popular and beloved artiste was sentenced to life in prison.

Vybz Kartel is still making music to this day, releasing albums such as To Tanesha, Dancehall Royalty, X-rated, Of Dons & Divas, as well as a slew of singles and music videos. Since his incarceration in 2011, Kartel has shown no signs of slowing down and is still perhaps the most consistent dancehall artiste when it comes to releasing new music.

Not only did he released several albums, but also hundreds of singles, both solo and collaborative efforts with a plethora of local and overseas artists. Let’s not forget that he also released a book.

Shawn Storm

Shawn Campbell, famously known as Shawn Storm, is considered Vybz Kartel’s right hand. He was sentenced in the same murder trial to 25 years which was later reduced to 22 years and 6 months.

Shawn Storm is known for his songs such as “My Life” and “Loyalty,” which would definitely be sing alongs if he was to grace to Live From Prison version of Sting.

Ninjaman

The great Desmond Ballentine, famously known as Ninja Man, followed suit in 2017. He was found guilty of the murder of Ricardo Johnson and was sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 25 years.

Dancehall artiste Laden was sentenced to four years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm and 18 months for illegal possession of ammunition. The sentences will run concurrently. His popular tracks include “Time to Shine,” “Me Same One,” and “Really Like You.”

Tommy Lee Sparta has been in and out of police custody a number of times. He recently pleaded guilty to the offenses of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, for which he was sentenced. He was found with a firearm along Holborn Road, New Kingston, last December and was subsequently arrested and charged.

The Montego Bay deejay was sentenced to 3 years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of an illegal firearm. His attorney Donahue Martin says his sentence was drastically reduced because he pled guilty and had no prior conviction.

Rytikal, another promising entertainer, appeared before the gun court to answer charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. His place on this hypothetical version of Sting still hangs in the balance. Yesterday he was offered a 1 million dollar bail and will go to trial on April 28.

The veteran deejay and Krystal Tomlinson called it quits just days ago, leaving many to figure out how something so “perfect” could crumble. Ikyra decided to use the platform to silence all questions being directed to her surrounding her father’s now-defunct relationship. The conversation quickly transitioned to her own love life, which she confirms is going pretty well at the moment. Her followers wanted to know more about the main man in her life, querying if the fellow is a celebrity.

Tommy Lee Sparta’s new EP New Creator has debut at No. 9 on the Billboard Reggae chart.

The EP was released on January 5th under Ricardo Gowe Records and has been doing well on iTunes. While that is an impressive achievement for the Guzu Musiq deejay, the sales figures paint a different picture. The project sold only 63 copies in its first week of release. Tommy Lee Sparta thank his fans for their support on IG despite the low sales numbers.

“New creator ep #9 on #billboard reggae charts #godisgood Spartans we all mek this possible y’all not my fan we family,” he wrote. Elsewhere on the chart, you will find Chronixx debut album Chronology at No. 8, SOJA’s album Poetry In Motion is at No. 6, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley‘s Stony Hill is at No. 4, while the top spot is being held by American band The Green.

Tommy Lee Sparta is currently working on his upcoming debut album, due in April of this year. The project will be the first off his multi-album deal with Sean Kingston’s label Time Is Money Entertainment. Chronixx and Damian Marley are currently battling with three other nominees this year for Best Reggae Album at the upcoming Grammy Awards. A rep for Sparta told us that he hopes to get a nomination next year for his upcoming album.

Aside from working on his new album, Tommy Lee Sparta is gearing up for some upcoming shows in Europe and the wider Caribbean. Last year was a big year for the former Gaza deejay who dominated the airwaves with his music after going back to his Gothic dancehall roots. Yesterday, the “Uncle Demon” deejay posted a video on the Gram taking a subliminal at the Vendetta boss. “Weh the #VIM dem deh tag the #VIC dem deh,” he wrote. In the video clip he explains what he really means by VIM. “Yeah man a VIM, very important murder, some boy a VIC, very important coward,” he said.

Alkaline got word of the video and jumped in the comments section to take a jab at Tommy Lee Sparta. “Vagina inna yuh mouth Vendetta in charge suck yuh mumma pree da bait ya [DJ Frass],” Alka wrote, while Lee responded, “like how them a own them name v.i.c.”

“Who the cap fit let them wear it @manhimselff (Alkaline) you an the battywash gang leave me page plz,” Tommy Lee continues.

Alkaline and Tommy Lee Sparta have been beefing since the start of the year but their feud has been mostly one sided with the Mobay deejay dropping a ton of diss tracks. The Vendetta boss, on the other hand, has only released around two songs taking subliminal shots at his rival.

Tommy Lee Sparta is being accused of making mumble dancehall music?

While mumble rap became a thing in hip hop in recent years, mumble dancehall is not a thing, at least not yet. Some fans are accusing Tommy Lee Sparta of making mumble music, but unless you’re a hardcore dancehall follower you may not always understand what he is saying in his songs. Sean Kingston and Tommy Lee debut their new video for their first collaboration “Cross Over” on WorldStarHipHop yesterday and fans have been weighing in.

“WTF when since dancehall artist start with this mumble rap foolishness, this guy [Tommy Lee Sparta] isn’t even saying real words, this is trash,” one fan wrote while another added, “This guy is just making a bunch of sounds he is not even rapping they should keep this mumble foolishness out of reggae at least cats like Sean Paul and Beenie Man use real words even if its patois.”

One thing we should point out about this is that most of the critics were American based fans who are probably used to Sean Kingston reggae-pop flavor of music and not hardcore dancehall. So for those who don’t understand what Tommy Lee is saying here is a snippet of his lyrics. “Clean in a new bank robber / Time is money watch the gal them a fallow / Full of gold chains like a me name Shaba / Every body know me a the lyrical bomber / Scarface, Toni Montana, mi jus spend a million dollar / Weed me smoke me don’t run coke joke / Last boy this run up inna gun smoke,” Sparta spits.

The cut has been in the works since the summer and now its finally here. Kingston debuts the video on WorldStarHipHop yesterday and already it clocked 200,000 views. The OutHereVisuals-directed video starts out with SK and Tommy Lee hanging out with their crew at the mansion. The cut arrives only a few weeks after the collaboration was previewed. The single pays homage to the popular Bridges sandals and Clarks Deserts boots which are both popular in dancehall culture. The cut was directed by RD Studios and produced jointly by Romeich Entertainment and Tommy Lee’s label Guzu Musiq.

Kartel spent a week in the hospital last week for a severe kidney infection. He is currently back behind bars, but his family members are deeply concerned about his health. Tommy Lee spoke with What’s Up where he expressed his shock and concerns for his former mentor’s health. “Vybz Kartel in the hospital me no know if it’s stress cause it,” he said.

“Me just wish him a speedy recovery yo see me, just want the dog [Vybz Kartel] forward a road and be there for his kids because they are turning into men now and they need him to guidance,” Sparta added. Tommy Lee also said that he is currently working on his debut album which will be comprised of only new singles. Seems the new album will be part of his new deal with Sean Kingston’s label.

“Look like they need an album so it me a work on right now,” he said. “I start to work on the album already. Pure new songs and these songs are different levels of songs because of the type of riddim a some big producers in America I am voicing for.”

Tommy Lee Sparta didn’t revealed the title or release date for the album.

Tommy Lee Sparta Says He Misses Vybz Kartel Talks Sean Kingston Deal

Tommy Lee Sparta says that he misses Vybz Kartel while opening up about his pending deal with Sean Kingston.

Sparta is one of Vybz Kartel’s former protege and he along with Popcaan and Vanessa Bling went on to have well recognized careers in dancehall. While all three artists are not on good terms with the incarcerated deejay, that doesn’t mean that they don’t often praise him on stage and in songs. Speaking with Anthony Miller on ER, Tommy Lee says he deeply misses Kartel and want him to be released from prison.

“Kartel know artists any artists that you see Kartel take, every single artist in the Gaza bad [great], because he has a good ears and him know what he is looking for,” the Mobay deejay said. When asked by Miller if he misses Vybz Kartel, Lee didn’t hesitate to say yes. “Me miss Kartel yes yo think its an easy thing that he is going through. Remember Kartel is a man who is use to his girls, him money, him hype life.”

Tommy Lee Sparta also revealed that he is currently in talks with Sean Kingston for a new record deal on the singer’s Time Is Money Entertainment label. “It’s going to be signed, its just the paperwork we going through and putting some agreements together,” Lee said. “They came with and agreement and we put forward our agreement also.”

Tommy Lee Sparta Lottery Scam Case Push Back To October

Tommy Lee Sparta still has a lottery scam cloud over his head because his trial was once again postponed.

The dancehall deejay was in court last week with his attorney when the judge postponed the highly anticipated trial until October 13. The trial was delayed because no courtroom was available to accommodate the case. In 2014, Tommy Lee Sparta along with three of his associates were charged for possession of identity information under the Law Reform Fraudulent Transaction Special Provisions Act.

According to the police report, in February 2014, cops raided a house that the deejay was renting in Kingston 5 where they found documents containing the names and personal information of persons living in the United States. The “Uncle Demon” deejay and several other occupants in the house were arrested and slapped with various charges related to the Anti-Lottery Act.
