Lil Baby Visits White House Shares Photo With VP Kamala Harris

Lil Baby recently took a trip to the White House and met with Vice President Kamala Harris.

In a post on his Instagram page, Lil Baby wrote, “Big shoutout to @vp for taking the time out her busy day to sit with me an have an open discussion! #wegottastartsomewhere.” The statement was accompanied by two images of the rapper alongside the VP in her office.

The rapper’s visit coincided with that of the family of George Floyd. Floyd was killed in an encounter with police officers in Minneapolis last year. Yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of his death.

Last month, after Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murdering Floyd, U.S President Joe Biden called for lawmakers to resurrect the George Floyd Justice in Policing bill. The legislation considered under the Act, if it becomes effective, would ban chokeholds, put restrictions on the use of deadly force by law enforcement and make it easier to prosecute officers for wrongdoing.

Yesterday, Floyd’s family met with the President and other White House officials to discuss the Act, which is stalled in the Senate. Lil Baby was also present at the meeting to discuss the George Floyd act. In a post on his Instagram story where he shared a snap of the meeting, the rapper said, “The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act is overly important. Research it.”

In June last year, shortly after Floyd’s death, Lil Baby released the song “The Bigger Picture” in response to the protests over his death. The rapper has been extremely vocal about police brutality and other social issues faced by the black community.

Hundreds of people took to the streets across various US cities last night on the anniversary of Floyd’s death. Oregon police declared a riot in Portland as one of the demonstrations to commemorate Floyd’s death spiraled into chaos.

For his part in honoring Floyd’s memory, Lil Baby’s fans have expressed how proud they are of the rapper. One user commented, “He really working towards The Bigger Picture mad respect,” while another added, “Cant lie THATS BIG!!!”

Fans are now looking forward to what the rapper has in store on the political front as well as musically.

Bounty Killer, Spice, Cardi B & More Artists React To Derek Chauvin’s Guilty Verdict

The murder of George Floyd last year sparked worldwide tensions and protests, but on Tuesday, April 4, the public celebrates being on the track to justice. This, after Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murder and manslaughter in George Floyd’s killing.

The entertainment industry, locally and internationally, is celebrating the light at the end of the tunnel, as this signifies hope restored in the American justice system.

The Queen of the Dancehall, Spice, who was among the protesters in America last year, posted a video of her leading the march and a picture of the breaking news headline, “Jury in Derek Chauvin trial finds him guilty of murdering George Floyd.” She captioned, “Guilty!! Yessssssssssssss. Say his name George Floyd. #Mood for the day let’s celebrate together it’s a start.”

The ‘poor people government,’ Bounty Killer also chimed in with a reaction to the verdict. The deejay reposted the story from The Star and captioned, “At least America has stand up once and they will have to stand up very soon again for Dante Wright too it just never seem to stop”

Bounty Killer makes reference to the April 11 fatal shooting of 20 year old Daunte Wright by police officer Kimberly Ann Potter. Reports are that Wright was pulled over by Potter and after a brief struggle with officers, Wright was shot at close range, Potter claiming she mistook her gun for a taser.

While this is an ongoing case, George Floyd’s case has been gaining the attention of the public given the ease and relief many feel at the latest update.

Rapper Guapdad 4000 took to Twitter to express the bittersweet feeling, “RIP GEORGE FLOYD I can’t help but feel bitter about what is supposed to be a sweet justice… It feels belittled by the fact that it doesn’t change the reason why he died… This country still suck,” he wrote. Record producer, Kenny Beats shared similar sentiments in his post, “Now its time to lock up all of them George Floyd and his family will never be given justice. This is just the start of some accountability. RIP GEORGE FLOYD.”

Krs-One – Don’t Fall For It Lyrics

Don’t you fall for it
Don’t you fall for it

Keep your head up, never let up
Never let them get you fed up
You just step up, get your rep up
Get your cash up, get your check up
The whole system’s a setup, it’s time we really get up
We been about this revolution from the time we met up
Take it back, I got my fist up, Malcolm X in ’88
But revolution only works for those that will participate
You are great, they are fake
Yo, it’s time to demonstrate
Higher level mental states
Conscious people, congregate!
Show the love, not the hate
This is basic, no debate
But these people are debating and they hating, they should wait
It was bickering amongst ourselves that got us in this state
Yeah, the truth is inconvenient, but the truth is never late

You can’t see what they be doing?
How they thinking? How they moving?
You can’t see what they pursuing?
Making claims, none approving?

Don’t fall for it, don’t fall for it
Don’t fall for it, don’t fall for it

We can see who is the enemy
Sovereignty’s the remedy
You don’t need telepathy
It’s white supremacy

Don’t fall for it, don’t fall for it
Don’t fall for it, don’t fall for it

Bringing it raw, doing it all
Government officials bringing the law
You never see what you never saw
303, open the door
Knowledge reigns, that is the game
Ignorance, that is insane
Don’t fall for it, the Reps and the Dems are the same
This one’s shooting us up, that one’s locking us up
This one gotta stop, that one’s outta luck
You could front if you need to, the cycle never ends
No justice, but in four years they hyping us again

Don’t fall for it, don’t fall for it
Don’t fall for it, don’t fall for it

If you thinking and you earning
And you drinking and you burning
And you really not concerning
With the news and what they learning

Don’t fall for it, don’t fall for it
Don’t fall for it, don’t fall for it

If you love it, never hate it
You agree and don’t debate it
[?] you educated
Your degree is highly rated

Don’t fall for it, don’t fall for it
Don’t you fall for it, don’t fall for it

Yo, me, I’m not a fake dude, I’ma keep it real real
They see through it all, that "America needs to heal" deal
America ain’t really sick, this is what it really is
Gunshots and cages for black and brown little kids
Now they acting like they not the cause of how we live
Do not tell me what you gonna do, I can see what you did
Look at her, look at him, look at them, look at me
Do you see our interests represented in society?
No you don’t, and you won’t ’cause democracy’s a joke
Every four years these same people asking us to vote
Nothing changed but the Range Rover switching lanes over
I remain the flamethrower, knowledge reigns, game over
Don’t fall for it, don’t you fall for it
Rodney King, George Floyd, man, we all saw it

So don’t protest with defiance
But don’t move with self-reliance
While the soul was being silenced
By the religion of science

Don’t fall for it, don’t you fall for it
Don’t fall for it, don’t you fall for it

If you thinking and you earning
And you drinking and you burning
And you really not concerning
With the news and what they learning

Don’t fall for it, don’t you fall for it
Don’t fall for it, don’t you fall for it

There’s no justice in the courts
We are always taking shorts
They can shoot us like a sport
And it’s our trust that they want?

Don’t fall for it, don’t you fall for it
Don’t fall for it, don’t you fall for it

Take it up!
Take it low now

Don’t fall for it, don’t you fall for it
Don’t fall for it, don’t you fall for it

Meek Mill Shares Graphic Photo Of Police Beat Him To A Pulp In Philadelphia

Meek Mill shared this graphic photos of himself back in the day when police beat him to a pulp in his native Philadelphia.

This year is not even halfway over, and yet it feels like we have had enough bad news for a decade. The recent string of racist murders and incidents of police brutality have caused some observers to express shock and confusion, attributing these events to the wave of terrible luck that is 2020. Some public figures are taking this opportunity to remind citizens who seem unaware that racism and police brutality are not a new phenomenon in America.

Amid growing unrest over the recent murder of George Floyd, rapper Meek Mill took to Instagram to post a picture of himself that he says is proof of his own injuries at the hands of police.

The picture shows Meek at a younger age, solemnly looking at the camera with a bandage over one eye and the other eye noticeably swollen.

He captioned the shot, “Mom took this pic and filed it with internal affairs, nothing happened! I been a rebel since!!! #georgefloyd I got charges for breaking one of the cops hands also like he didn’t break his hand on my face!”

The post was a stark reminder to Meek’s nearly twenty million followers that unpunished police brutality is nothing new in the Black community.

The Philadelphia rapper has been outspoken about criminal justice and prison reform, even helping to establish the REFORM Alliance organization along with JAY-Z. The non-profit recently donated 100,000 masks to the Rikers Island correctional facility, the Tennessee Department of Corrections, and the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman to protect both inmates and staff during the coronavirus pandemic.

Hov and Yo Gotti recently helped inmates at Parchman to file two lawsuits against the institution for poor treatment of prisoners.

Issues of prison brutality are just one aspect of a larger criminal justice system that was built to intentionally oppress people of color in the U.S.

Dr. Dre Opens Up About The Pain Of George Floyd’s Death In Interview With Lil Wayne

Dr. Dre, aka Mr. F*** the police, is opening up about cops killing George Floyd in Minneapolis in his new interview with Lil Wayne on Young Money Radio

The death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers has left many Americans with the gruesome image of Officer Derek Chauvin’s knee on Floyd’s neck persistently lingering in our heads, and a growing rage burning in the pit of our stomachs. Over the last several days, protests have erupted in several major cities to demand justice for the recent victims of racism and police brutality, and to call for an immediate shift in the way we talk about and handle race issues in this country.

Some celebrities have had a hard time dealing with the tragedies or knowing what to say to the many people who look to them for direction and support. Two of music’s biggest and most influential artists, Dr. Dre and Lil Wayne, touched on the topic Friday night on Young Money Radio.

Many were surprised that Wayne willingly brought up Floyd’s death after he received some criticism for the comments he made following the incident. During a chat with Fat Joe, Weezy said, “We have to stop placing the blame on the whole force and the whole everybody or a certain race or everybody with a badge.” Dre, however, took a different perspective.

“It’s like, man, that situation, it hurt my heart,” he explained. “And it felt like that cop had his knee on all of our necks, meaning black men.”

Dre went on to offer a sliver of hope for listeners who are hurting, saying, “…it really feels like something is going to happen now, to at least put us in the area where we can start talking about a way to make thing stop.”

Dre has certainly come a long way from his “F*ck the Police” beginnings, a song that might be more reflective of the opinions of many current protesters. However, the sentiments he shared with Wayne are the product of many years of earned wisdom, and a much-needed message of hope for hip hop fans and members of the Black community during these difficult times.

Rihanna Express Her Anger Demands Justice For George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery & Breonna Taylor

Rihanna is expressing her anger and outrage over the brutal murder of George Floyd.

Rihanna is tired. Like many of us, the singer is fed up with the high degree of racism and police brutality in this country, especially amid back-to-back murders of unarmed Black Americans. Ahmaud Arbery, who was shot down by white men who considered themselves vigilantes, Breonna Taylor, who was killed by police in her home after being mistaken for someone who had already been arrested, and George Floyd, who was suffocated under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer while being detained, have all lost their lives this year due to overt racism and a flawed criminal justice system.

Rihanna hopped on Instagram Friday to express her pain and disgust over these recent events.

“For the last few days, the magnitude of devastation, anger, sadness I’ve felt has been overwhelming to say the least! Watching my people get murdered and lynched day after day pushed me to a heavy place in my heart!” Rihanna began. She went on to explain how she has avoided social media after seeing the heart wrenching video of George Floyd’s murder and witnessing the “pure joy and climax” on the face of Derek Chauvin, the officer who held his knee on Floyd’s neck. She ends her post by asking, “If intentional MURDER is the fit consequence for ‘drugs’ or ‘resisting arrest’…then what’s the fit consequence for MURDER???! #GerogeFloyd #AhmaudArbery #BreonnaTaylor.”

Chauvin, who is one of four police officers involved in the death of George Floyd, was arrested Friday on charges of manslaughter and third-degree murder. Protests calling for the arrest of the other three officers as well as an end to police brutality and racially motivated killings of Black Americans have sprung up in cities across the country.

While the protests have been mostly peaceful, property damage and looting have been occurring as a byproduct of the rage felt by the oppressed.

Watching my people get murdered and lynched day after day pushed me to a heavy place in my heart! I can’t get over an ambulance pulling up to an arrest, a paramedic checking a pulse without removing the very thing that’s hindering it! Is this that fucking normal??? Drake Shares Powerful Assata Shakur’s ‘Affirmation’ For George Floyd

Drake is one of the most recent celebrities to pay respect to George Floyd using a Assata Shakur’s poem.

The murder of George Floyd by white police officers has reverberated through every sector of society, from famous people to ordinary folk all trying to bring attention to the injustice that is occurring too many times. Although an incredible writer whose lyrics have claimed numerous awards, Drake chose to instead allow another’s words to speak during this tragic time. The “Chicago Freestyle” rapper shared a poem on his Instagram by Assata Shakur, a civil rights activist who was a member of the Black Panther Party and Black Liberation Army.

The poem, entitled “Affirmation,” appears in her 1987 autobiography, which she published in Cuba where she was granted political asylum and still resides. “I believe in living. I believe in the spectrum of Beta days and Gamma people. I believe in sunshine. In windmills and waterfalls, tricycles and rocking chairs,” read the portion that Drake shared. “I have been locked by the lawless. Handcuffed by the haters. Gagged by the greedy. And if i know any thing at all, it’s that a wall is just a wall and nothing more at all. It can be broken down.”

Over the past 24 hours, protests calling for justice for Floyd and those like him have occurred across the US, including Minneapolis, where the incident occurred in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC. Some, like Rihanna and Beyoncé, have urged citizens to sign petitions, but Lil Wayne shared that he has a different perspective on armchair activism.

“Some people put a tweet out and they think they did something. Some people wear a shirt and they think they did something. What you gonna do after that? Did you actually help the person? Did you actually help the family?” he said during a discussion with Fat Joe. Instead, Weezy felt as though we should all hold ourselves accountable for not doing more.

Read Drake’s Assata Shakur’s poem “Affirmation” below.

I believe in living.
I believe in the spectrum
of Beta days and Gamma people.
I believe in sunshine.
In windmills and waterfalls,
tricycles and rocking chairs.
And i believe that seeds grow into sprouts.
And sprouts grow into trees.
I believe in the magic of the hands.
And in the wisdom of the eyes.
I believe in rain and tears.
And in the blood of infinity.

I believe in life.
And i have seen the death parade
march through the torso of the earth,
sculpting mud bodies in its path.
I have seen the destruction of the daylight,
and seen bloodthirsty maggots
prayed to and saluted.

I have seen the kind become the blind
and the blind become the bind
in one easy lesson.
I have walked on cut glass.
I have eaten crow and blunder bread
and breathed the stench of indifference.

I have been locked by the lawless.
Handcuffed by the haters.
Gagged by the greedy.
And, if i know any thing at all,
it’s that a wall is just a wall
and nothing more at all.
It can be broken down.

I believe in living.
I believe in birth.
I believe in the sweat of love
and in the fire of truth.

And i believe that a lost ship,
steered by tired, seasick sailors,
can still be guided home
to port.

Cardi B Flames Tomi Lahren, Voice Support For Looting Over George Floyd’s Murder

Cardi B is clapping back at Tomi Lahren for her disapproval of the protests that have stemmed from the death of George Floyd.

It looks like Tomi Lahren is finally ready to take Cardi B up on the offer to “dog walk” her. Amidst the gruesome killing of 46-year-old Minneapolis man George Floyd, many have taken to the streets to rebel. Unlike the past, much more peaceful versions of protests that have taken place when the black community has fallen victim to social injustices, this time was different. Outraged residents are looting at Target and police precincts, and have even set fire to an Autozone store in South Minneapolis.

Amidst the chaos political commentator Tomi Lahren who is infamous for pissing celebrities off with her partial unwelcomed opinion, took to Twitter to denounce the uproar. “How does looting, rioting, and destroying your OWN community bring justice for anyone?” Lahren questioned.

Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B was happy to enlighten the conservative who was clearly disregarding the action that caused the destructive reaction. “How does targeting, profilin, beating and murdering black men with no consequence equal serving and protecting?” Cardi asked. “Who’s giving them justice and trust on cops? Mind your business and eat your salad!”

This isn’t the first time Cardi B and Tomi Lahren got into it on Twitter. Earlier this year in January, Lahren responded to Cardi denouncing Donald Trump with a sarcastic tweet that implied that the rapper doesn’t know enough about politics to have an opinion. Though Cardi B offered to “dog walk” Lahren then, she kept coming back for more. The following month the Fox Nation host came for Beyoncé and Jay Z for not standing during the national anthem at the Superbowl. A disgruntled Tomi Lahren called the couple “despicable” for not getting off of their “privileged a##es” which prompted Cardi to make the offer again. At this point, Tomi Lahren should definitely be used to being widely disagreeable.

This time she chucked up another sarcastic reply to Cardi’s well-formulated response about the injustice that was the killing of George Floyd. “Yeah stealing TVs and everything else from Target and setting AutoZone on fire is sure gonna fix the problem. You got it,” Lahren wrote back. “Just what the country recovering from economic collapse needs right now.” It’s sad that in today’s world, so many people with great influence are blinded by their own white privilege.

Cardi didn’t bother to pursue a dead-end conversation with an obstinate conservative. Instead, she shared a video of the Minneapolis looting and expressed that while she is not an advocate of violence, it is clear that a breaking point has been reached, and she is not refuting the way the black community has chosen to lash out.

“They looting in Minnesota and as much as I don’t like this type of violence it is what it is,” she said. “Too much peaceful marches, too much trending hashtags, and NO SOLUTIONS! The people are left with NO CHOICE.”

The “Be Careful” rapper is just one of the slew of celebrities who have spoken out since George Floyd’s murder. Donald Trump’s response has not been very helpful either as he’s shamelessly and publicly ordered: “shooting for the looting” and invited military forces to combat violent protests.

The public outcry has been tremendous, and it is clear this time that something has to give.

50 Cent Weighs In Black CNN Reporter Arrest At George Floyd Protest

50 Cent has shared his reaction to a black CNN reporter being arrested on live TV in Minneapolis.

50 Cent is outraged just like the rest of us. The murder of George Floyd has left many raw as a reminder that racism is alive and well in the free democracy. The 46-year-old African-American man was killed on Monday in Minneapolis after a white police officer pinned him to the ground and placed his knee on his throat, depriving him of oxygen. A bystander filmed the incident in which Floyd can be heard gasping for air and saying he can’t breathe, and the video has since gone viral, bringing attention to the commonality of police brutality and the unfair targeting of African-Americans.

Since the murder occurred, the four police officers involved have been fired, and mass protests have ensued, particularly in Minneapolis, which is at the center of the heinous crime. CNN sent reporters to cover the rallies, and one of its journalists, Omar Jimenez, was filmed being arrested live on air. Jimenez, who is black, had shown a protestor being arrested and then found himself surrounded by several police officers who placed him under arrest and in handcuffs, despite telling police that he and his crew were members of the press and that they would gladly move out of the police’s way.

A post shared by 50 Cent (@50cent) on May 29, 2020 at 6:09am PDT

Aside from Jimenez and his crew being arrested without reason, a white CNN reporter revealed that he too had been approached by officers, but was allowed to continue working after informing them that he was part of the media. Josh Campbell conceded that he was treated far differently than his African-American compatriot, something which Fifty also pointed out on his IG. “One they let walk away, one they took to jail. This s*** is sad,” 50 Cent wrote alongside pictures of Campbell and Jimenez.

At the time of writing, the social media post has almost 80,500 likes, with many commenters agreeing with Fifty’s sentiments.

Lil Wayne Says “Everybody” Is To Be Blamed For George Floyd’s Death

Lil Wayne says “everybody” is to be blamed for George Floyd’s death.

As tensions boil over in Minneapolis and the rest of the US, Lil Wayne has a theory about who is responsible for George Floyd’s death. Lil Wayne has now shared his thoughts on the matter while speaking with Fat Joe. Weezy suggested that the issue has to stop being viewed broadly by holding an entire race group or the police accountable.

“We have to actually get into who that person is. And if we want to place the blame on anybody, it should be ourselves for not doing more than what we think we’re doing,” he explained. The “I Do It” rapper also questioned how much declaring one’s anger on social media or wearing a protest T-shirt actually helps the victim or their family.

Lil Wayne is not the only big name in hip hop speaking out. Earlier today, 50 Cent weighed in on the subject after an African-American journalist from CNN and his crew were arrested live on television despite informing the police they were press, while a white reporter from the same network who was a block away was allowed to continue his work when he told officers that he was a member of the media. “One they let walk away, one they took to jail. This s*** is sad,” Fifty wrote on Instagram alongside pictures of the two journalists.

George Floyd was killed by a white police officer on Monday in Minneapolis, and protests have ensued while the topic of racism has been hit on everybody’s minds. The murder of Floyd was recorded by a bystander who witnessed him struggling to breathe under the officer’s knee, which ultimately claimed his life. In the days that have passed, mass protests have taken place in the Minnesota capital, and the four white policemen involved have been fired, with one charged with third-degree murder. The tragic incident has re-opened the debate around authorities targeting African-Americans and what can be done to change this.

T.I. Breaks Silence On President Trump Distorting His Lyrics To Attack Joe Biden

Grammy award-winning rapper T.I. has responded to a viral campaign ad that was posted by Donald Trump on Snapchat using one of his popular hit songs.

Trump’s anti-Joe Biden ad makes use of the Atlanta rap legend’s 2008 hit song “Whatever You Like” but distorts the original lyrics. Instead of using T.I.’s words, “I want your body, need yo’ body. Long as you got me, you won’t need nobody,” the edited the lyrics in the video with it saying, “I don’t want Joe Biden, need Joe Biden. Long as you’ve got me, you don’t need Joe Biden.”

In response to this, on Thursday, T.I.’s rep released a statement condemning the ad and the alteration of the original lyrics.

“It goes without saying that T.I. would not in any way ever support the divisive policies and destructive propaganda of Trump,” the statement sent to HotNewHipHop reads. “The people of our country deserve far better than this. Be clear, he does not authorize it or consent to the use of his song to falsely suggest any endorsement of President Trump or to attack Joe Biden. It is sad but expected that this President would stoop so low to use his property without authority to manipulate the community. T.I.’s legal team and media partners are already moving expeditiously to block this unauthorized use and set the record straight in no uncertain terms!”

.@realDonaldTrump’s @Snapchat uses a sample of “Whatever You Like” by @Tip.

“I don’t want @JoeBiden, need Joe Biden, long as you got me, you won’t need Joe Biden….”

T.I, who is known to be a vocal critic of Donald Trump and his policies since 2016 when he infamously posted on his Instagram saying, “Nobody who supports me will support you.” He even took it a bit further in October 2018 by having a look-alike of the First Lady of The U.S. striptease in an office that was a replica of the Oval Office.

Even though he is yet to comment on this ad, as his attention is focused on the injustice meted to George Floyd, his rep team has stated that they would be pursuing legal action against Trump.
