H.E.R. Calls On Reggae Artists For Her New EP

Grammy Award-winning soul singer H.E.R. has landed in Jamaica as she works on an upcoming reggae-inspired EP as well as a song on DJ Khaled’s upcoming album “Khaled Khaled.”

The soulful singer who collaborated with Bob Marley’s grandson Skip Marley on their hit song “Slow Down” which was nominated for a Grammy, said her EP will feature other reggae artists from within the island.

“Me and DJ Khaled have a song together that I’m really excited for people to hear, and he wanted to shoot the video here. My EP that I’ll be releasing is gonna feature a lot of reggae artistes. It’s gonna be dope,” she said to local newspaper, Jamaica Observer.

H.E.R says after making “Slow Down” she was inspired to make Reggae music, especially since she has always loved the genre.

“I felt like Slow Down was one song that made me even want to dive into reggae even deeper. I’ve always loved reggae, and now I’m about to do a whole reggae project,” she began. “My EP is definitely coming this year. I’m still finishing it up and making sure its great before releasing it.”

“Slow Down” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B song. The song was among several nominations for H.E.R. (acronym for Having Everything Revealed), who was born Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson at the Grammys. She eventually walked away with Song of the Year for 2021 for her song “I can’t breathe.”

The song was centered around the Black Lives Matter protests following the death of George Floyd, whose last words were “I can’t breathe,” as a police officer Derek Chauvin kept his knees on his neck for nine minutes. An ongoing trial of Chauvin has found that his actions led to the death of Floyd.

According to H.E.R, the ensuing protests and social upheaval weighed heavy on her, and the win for her song was unexpected.

“It’s such a big deal and an honour. I didn’t expect to win it, and there were so many amazing artistes in the same category. When I heard the announcement, I was super surprised. The [song’s] message, it really came from my own personal anxiety and looking at the world around me and my perspective of the world and what was going on in the summer of 2020 and the protests in America,” she said.

“I couldn’t really believe that people listened to the song and it gave them perspective. It really means the world to me just because it’s an important message and also very personal to me.”

Meanwhile, H.E.R has not revealed who the artists are who will feature on her EP, but it seems likely that DJ Khaled is lining up the links among the best of Reggae and Dancehall. The EP is expected to be released later this year.

Vershon Confirms Deal With Warner Music UK & Drops New EP “Only One”

Dancehall entertainer Vershon has recently teamed up with UK hit-making gang FaNaTix for his first project with Warner Music (UK) via its Parlophone musical arm.

Vershon, known predominantly for his catalog of conscious songs, has offered fans a reminder that he is also able to blend various elements into his music. The project features the likes of Turf President Busy Signal, UK Grime rapper Chip, formerly Chipmunk; Trillary Banks; and Y Cee.

A majority of the tracks on the project cater to the ladies. Chip offers his assistance on “Reality,” as both men explain just why they love and adore women who sport their natural features and retain their beauty, whether online or in reality. “Whisper,” “Stick By Me,” and the fast-paced dance number “Shake It Up,” round out the cuts for the females. “Original” shows that Vershon also has a pretty grimy side to him.

Fans got a taste of that version of Vershon during his high profile lyrical face-off with Jahmiel. The two are no longer beefing after Jahmiel extended a peace offering as a part of his journey back to his more spiritual nature. “Thingz” featuring Busy Signal packs ingredients which have helped to shape Vershon’s prior hits such as “Inna Real Life,” “Ruff Up The World,” “On and Off Switch,” “Used to Hungry,” “Mercy A God,” and “Outside.”

Vershon / IG @vershonmusic

In a recent press release, Vershon spoke on his 2019 signing as well as how his second EP came about.

“I did an EP independently in 2017 called One More Day. So now, working with FaNaTiX. It’s new. Signing with Parlophone is also new because I’ve never signed a record deal. So that’s why I decided why not just put out an EP instead of one song so it’s a body of music,” he said.

The 3-man team at FaNaTiX music has earned their space in the musical sphere with hits from the likes of Stylo G, Vybz Kartel, Nicki Minaj, Popcaan, Giggs, among other top urban acts. Vershon explained just how his brand new EP came to be exclusively produced by the UK-based trio and how British award-winner and soul pioneer Plan B assisted with “Stick By Me.”

“It’s my third release from my new EP and was created whilst working with producer artist team The FaNaTiX. The FaNaTiX were in Montego Bay running a writing camp and on one of these occasions, Plan B was there working with them, they introduced us and encourage him to get involved in our session. Plan B joined us at the table with a bunch of laptops, a microphone set up and a room full of vibes and energy,” Vershon shared with Wonderland Music Magazine.

The EP has been receiving heavy rotation since its release on March 05, 2021. While speaking on his signing to the label, which has housed the likes of The Beatles, Queen, Duran Duran, Tina Turner, Roxette, and The Pet Shop Boys, the Jamaican entertainer shared how optimistic he was about the move. “Warner Music is an established international label, so that is an excellent move for me. I can see where things can happen internationally for my career,” he said.

Usain Bolt Readies Debut EP & Plans To Take Dancehall Career International

Olympian Usain Bolt is known worldwide for his athletic feats on the track. However, in the past few months, he seems content since his retirement to hang up his spikes from one track to start laying down some musical ones instead.

In an interview with Zip, he explained that he is preparing to drop some new tracks, and he also divulged the impending release of his 1st EP. Usain Bolt expressed that he is quite serious about music, and it’s his goal to be not only relevant in the Jamaican market but also the international one.

“Well music, music-wise we are working on some new riddims to drop out to drop, soon, knowing the whole pandemic we’re not trying to rush anything we’re taking our time to make sure the music comes out at the right time so that’s the focus we also have an EP that we are working on so that should be something interesting and also to look out for,” he mentioned.

He continues: “That’s the major goal yuh nu to try to get not only dominate the Jamaican market but also to get into the international market, but as I say earlier it takes time we’re just trying to get a foothold, trying to make people understand that we’re not just here joking around we are serious about the music so we’re just gonna take our time just like in track and field, it’s all about its work and dedicating and just taking our time. We don’t want to rush into anything make any mistakes so we wanna take our time we will get there we believe in ourselves and we believe in the product we put out there.”

This revelation is certainly met with shock and awe by some, while others find it to be no surprise. The legendary track star is definitely determined in his endeavors as he seems to not let his efforts be thwarted by negative comments, even if they are taken from the mouths of popular entertainers. Just a few weeks ago Usain teased his new single, “Living The Dream,” which features his long-time friend and manager Nugent’ NJ’ Walker on his Instagram page. Usain Bolt captioned that post, “Ok my Ppl I understand my verse flew by so fast. I wonder if it’s because I’m the fastest man alive. Ok for the next song I’m going to try slow down my verse so u’ll can hear.”

A post shared by Usain St.Leo Bolt (@usainbolt)

Unfortunately, it seems Dancehall artiste Popcaan did not like what he heard regardless of the pace, and he was not shy about making his opinion known.

“Wid all due respect legend, me feel like you fi just help up some youth wid real musical talent! Them dey ya nuff. NJ a mi fam, but please just give some hungry youth wey actually have the talent tha platform deh,” Popcaan commented.

It is unknown if this left bad blood between the two, but Popcaan clearly still got love for Usain as he has given Usain props in his two most recent songs, “Win” and “Medal.” Since his retirement from Track & Field, Bolt has gone on to start his family with the birth of a baby daughter last year. With this said, Bolt is no stranger to music and entertainment. From his historic win at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, where his dancing styles and moves were copied worldwide as his signature stance, to french company G.H Mumm selecting him as their Chief entertainment officer back in 2016. In 2019, he launched his Olympe Rose champagne and also introduced the world to his first riddim by the same name.

It has long been hinted that he would be doing more music projects as his love of music is well known. He has even in the past taken over the turntables at popular night clubs in Kingston, so this passion seems to be here to stay. His fans are now anxiously awaiting the release of his upcoming EP.

Vybz Kartel & Sikka Rymes Drops “Dirty John Crow” Video Off ‘Dancehall Royalty’

Vybz Kartel released the “Dirty John Crow” music video in tandem with his new EP Dancehall Royalty.

The first album of 2021 by dancehall mogul Vybz Kartel is available to listen to now. The deejay who has been promoting the project all week, released a music video for one of the tracks from the EP titled “Dirty John Crow”. The Sikka Rymes-assisted track is an upbeat jam with a hardcore delivery of sexually explicit rhymes.

“Mi jus roll down yuh panty so gently / Set yuh pon yuh belly watch yuh p***y looking at me / So mi force up mi c***y till it buck inna yuh belly,” Kartel deejays on the new track.

The music video has a dark undertone with Sikka Rymes appearing as a seemingly devious priest. In the opening scene, the deejay arrives holding a lit candle and accompanied by an eerie group of women who are scantily-clad in full black and fishnet stockings.

The make-up and costume design likened the video vixens to the devil’s spawns and it seems Sikka Rymes is the leader. A hearse serves as a prop in one morbid scene where they mysteriously approach a black casket. Alas, the mood abruptly changes as the women soon begin to gyrate their rumps and perform provocative dances while giving the camera sultry looks – something a bit more typical of Vybz Kartel visuals.

Dancehall Royalty features four other tracks: “Titanium Steel”, “My Own World”, “Popular” and “Yea You”. In addition to Sikka Rymes, Renee 6:30, Likkle Addi, and Likkle Vybz all guest star on the project. As Vybz Kartel announced to fans around midnight when he dropped off the new visuals, the EP is now available in digital stores including Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify and more.

Steel Banglez

[Verse 1]
Live life on the edge, won’t topple
Like when I’m on a bike, full throttle
Step in the dance, kop bottles
MIST from the ends is the kids role model
New whip soon land, looking like a space shuttle
Black-on-black, yeah, I call that subtle
My dargs dem a bark, no muzzle
Beef get solved real quick, but it’s long like puzzles
I just wanna watch money double

[Chorus]
I’m getting hot like Nelly
Legend in the game, Machiavelli
Glastonbury, yeah, yeah, you see me on the telly
I’m a very calculated nigga, never miss a penny
I’m getting hot like Nelly
Legend in the game, Machiavelli
Glastonbury, yeah, yeah, you see me on the telly
I’m a very calculated nigga, never miss a penny

[Verse 2]
Just gimmie health, health and wealth
Fear no one but God himself

These day I hustle for a house
Stepped in the dance, shut down, bounced
Came through stinking of ounce
Yeah, I came through stinking of ounce

I’m getting hot like Nelly
Legend in the game, Machiavelli

Diamond in the dirt, yeah, you know that I’m treasure

XXXTentacion Could Spend Christmas In Jail, Case Takes A Turn For The Worse

XXXTentacion is in a serious legal bind and could spend Christmas and New Year’s in jail.

The South Florida rapper posted an image of his court document on Instagram while issuing an apology to anyone who he may have let down if he gets locked up at his next court hearing on December 15th. XXXTentacion is set to stand trial for domestic battery by strangulation, witness-tampering, false imprisonment, and aggravated battery of a pregnant woman. These are all serious charges against the rapper and could put him in the slammer for years if found guilty.

“Court date is on the 15th 9:00 am here is my court information, if I am taken into custody, I want to tell everyone I’ve let down I apologize, I tried my best, I really did,” X wrote on IG. Earlier this month, the “Look At Me” rapper’s legal team filed an affidavit claiming that the victim in the case no longer wishes to pursue the case against him but the prosecution objected and argued that the affidavit might not even be legitimate.

XXXTentacion has been having a rocky year despite tasting mainstream success with his rap career and even landing a lucrative record deal with Capitol Records worth a reported $6 million. During the summer he got into a beef with another rapper whose crew knocked him out on stage at one of his tour stops in California. Last month, he again got into an altercation with some guys link to rap group Migos. Despite getting a beat down, he was defiant on social media about getting back at the Atlanta trio.

XXXTentacion released his new EP, A Ghetto Christmas Carol, ahead of his upcoming court date. The project features five new singles including a song he produced himself “Up Like an Insomniac” where he fired off a freestyle.

XXXTentacion Drops New EP “A Ghetto Christmas Carol” Listen

XXXTentacion want his fans to jam to his new EP A Ghetto Christmas Carol for the holidays.

The Lauderhill rapper has had a rocky year but he is looking to close out 2017 on a high with this new five track EP. You can find singles such as “A ghetto Christmas Carol,” “Hate Will Never Win,” “Up Like An Insomniac,” “Red Light,” and “Indecision.” He is listed a producer on the single “Up Like An Insomniac” along with Ronny J who produced most of the project.

Surprisingly there are no Christmas themed song on the EP despite the title being A Ghetto Christmas Carol. On his self-produced song “Insomniac” he raps about his fame and riches in a fiery freestyle over a bass heavy beat. “Okay, Xans for her dinner, uhh / Bag from Margiela, uhh / Bad little b**ch, she Spanish / Speak no English, got no manners / Just like a gnome, I’m at your home / Right on your yard, shoes are Goyard,” X raps.

XXXTentacion has an upcoming court date set for December 15th where he could very well be taken into custody as the prosecution look to lay down more charges against him. He is currently charged with domestic battery by strangulation, witness-tampering, false imprisonment, and aggravated battery of a pregnant woman.

When everybody got a deal and did what they feel
Who was here releasing grime CDs? Me and Jme
Grime tracks on every single EP? Me
Young MC that was duppying pirate? Me
Big MC still duppying pirate? Me
Doing shows worldwide, play a man’s vocal
Showing their country that it’s not just me

Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, they don’t even know
How it feels when you’re
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it

[Verse 2: Stormzy]
If you’re gonna send then send for the top
Look, trust me, I get it (calm)
I’ll take that shot and I’ll take that shot
Yeah, I’m photogenic (calm)
But when I spray back and I ended careers
Don’t tell me to dead it (‘llow it)
Bare of these MCs hate me
But they still see me and beg it (pussies)
And I still came back with the game on my lap
Like “nobody move” (no one)
Tryna take care of my Gs
Ain’t tryna see nobody lose
But man try come for my team, I’ll dun him off
My man thought he’s a G, stop running off
I’ve got a crown and you’ve got a crown
But rudeboy, this crown here ain’t coming off (‘llow it)

[Pre-Hook: P Money]
I’ve been killing shows with no deal
I always keep it down to earth, I’m so real
I’m ready, I’m itching to go, can’t sit still
They’re so fake, they don’t even know how it feels when you’re

[Hook: P Money]
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, they don’t even know
How it feels when you’re
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it

[Verse 3: P Money]
Yo, I was one of the youngers that you couldn’t send shop
Yeah, I was a mummy’s boy, but never soft
I boxed man that thought they couldn’t get boxed
Topped MCs that thought they couldn’t be topped
When I flow on the riddim, I never get lost
When you flow on the riddim, you’re told “get lost”
Labels wanna know how I keep going hard
Thought I took a pill cuh my ting never went flop
Complete control, I could never get dropped
There was never a show that never went off
Milking it for so long and it never went off
Don’t know why, maybe it’s cause I never went pop
Helped out the game, man did that a lot
Bring us down to festivals, did that a lot
Man can chat shit about me doing dubstep
Told grime police man never bread cops
So I still spray on dubstep now, and what?
Wait, cut the beat out, let me talk to these lot
Let’s talk P, I’m on about me
First grime act packing at Wireless? Me
Spraying on “Eskimo” at Wireless? Me
Five years straight and still tireless? Me
When everybody got a deal and did what they feel
Who was here releasing grime CDs? Me and Jme
Grime tracks on every single EP? Me
Young MC that was duppying pirate? Me
Big MC still duppying pirate? Me
Doing shows worldwide, play a man’s vocal
Showing their country that it’s not just me
Who was doing that at the time? No one, me
There was more but I can’t fit it in a sixteen
Man just better respect me

[Pre-Hook: P Money]
I’ve been killing shows with no deal

I’m ready, I’m itching to go, can’t sit still

Trettmann – Adriano (Kitschkrieg, Vol. 3 EP) letras

[Intro Ricky Trooper]
Some bwoy a run up dem mouth and a gwaan
Wait till later, wait till later
Leggo tune…

[Bridge]
Tu was ich immer mach, mach was ich immer tu
Wenn nicht jetzt, wann dann? Einfach weil ich’s kann

[Hook]
Driano Celentano, Driano Celentano
Ihr seid mir egal, Adriano Celentano

[Verse 1]
Jaja, big pimpin Trinidad
Alles echt, alles jetzt, ungestreckt, kein Imitat
Die Versatility, du bleibst’n Mini-Me

Driano Celentano, Driano Celentano
Ihr seid mir egal, Adriano Celentano

[Verse 2]
Pscht, spar dir deine Lingo
Die Versatility, du bleibst’n Mini-Me

Driano Celentano, Driano Celentano
Ihr seid mir egal, Adriano Celentano

Trettmann – In Meinem Leben (Kitschkrieg, Vol. 3 EP) letras

[Hook:]

[Hook:]

Mir doch egal, wen oder was du abziehst

[Hook:]
Tut mir leid, du liegst daneben
Will mir das alles, nicht mehr geben
Hab keinen Platz dafür, nicht in meinem Leben
Hast du gehört ey, nicht in meinem Leben

Trettmann – Wie Du (feat. Carsten Chemnitz) (Kitschkrieg, Vol. 3 EP) letras

[Intro]
Hier ahnt keiner wer du bist, keiner, keiner, keiner

[Hook]
Hier ahnt keiner wer du bist, keiner ahnt was du tust
Hier ahnt keiner wer du bist, keiner, keiner, keiner

[Verse 1]
Du bist kein Designer, eher Made in China, egal was du anhast
Wie Lil Kim und Sean Combs, "No Time For Fake Ones", halte die Balance
Pull Up vorm Club, pump Tyron Tayler "Cottage In Negril"

Hier ahnt keiner wer du bist, keiner ahnt was du tust
2 x

[Verse 2 Carsten Chemnitz]

Hier ahnt keiner wer du bist, keiner ahnt was du tust
2 x

Trettmann – Ehrenrunde (Kitschkrieg, Vol. 3 EP) letras

[Verse 1]
Alle überrundet, Transformation abgeschlossen, alles gut, alles richtig

[Verse 2]
Awhodat – alle wolln deine Bilder, schwarz- weiß ohne Filter
Big Up, Felix und Samy, How many mics? Me say many many many
Shout Out HHV, KK1 – 2 – 3 kommt auf DoppelVinyl
Dann Album, Trettmann, lauf’ locker durchs Ziel

[Hook]

Trettmann – La Dolce Vita (Kitschkrieg, Vol. 3 EP) letras

[Hook]

[Verse 1]
Aye, lass uns Wolken essen
Schwarze Outlines, braune Haut, goldene Kette… in ‘ner
Zeig mir nochmal, nochmal womit du arbeitest, Mhmm
Pull up & come again
Ich link dich gern, komm vorbei
Schreib dir ‘n Song, auf den Leib
Nur wir zwei, sag kei’m Bescheid
"On The Down Low" – Brian McKnight

[Bridge]

[Hook]

[Verse 2]
"Gal flex…" , wie Cobra
"Time to have…", du bist wie ich ein Stoner, hmhm
Teste das Aroma
Du erinnerst mich an "All My Girls Do Yoga"
Kein Spiel spiel, for real real

[Hook]
