Brazil hits 400,000 COVID deaths

April was the worst month of the pandemic, with more than 82,000 deaths.Activists say the government must do more to stop the spread.Al Jazeera’s Monica Yanakiew reports from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

How Brazil’s coronavirus response went from bad to absolute disaster

DW News shows that the Covid-19 coronavirus crisis in Brazil is going from bad to worse. Critics point to government mismanagement for the 2nd highest COVID death toll in the world. Doctors Without Borders calls it a humanitarian catastrophe. It says authorities’ refusal to adopt evidence-based public health measures has sent far too many to an early grave.
Last week Brazil accounted for over a quarter of global COVID-19 deaths. Unlike other countries, the virus is killing many children. Some doctors blame an extreme immune response to the virus multi-system inflammatory syndrome.

Covid spreading faster in India than anywhere else

BBC News shows that India reported a record daily increase of over 150,000 coronavirus cases – and more than 800 new deaths – on Sunday. This video is from Apr 11, 2021.
Since the pandemic began, India has confirmed more than 12 million cases and over 167,000 deaths.
It has the third-highest number of Covid-19 infections in the world after the United States and Brazil.
(Updated) April 17, 2021 – India reported a record daily increase of 234,692 COVID-19 infections over the last 24 hours, health ministry data showed on Saturday.
It was the eighth record daily increase in the last nine days.
Total cases reached nearly 14.5 million, second only to the United States which has reported more than 32 million infections.

Brazil hits grim new Covid-19 death record

BBC News shows that Brazil has recorded more than 4,000 Covid-related deaths in 24 hours for the first time, as a more contagious variant fuels a surge in cases.
Hospitals are overcrowded, with people dying as they wait for treatment in some cities, and the health system is on the brink of collapse in many areas.
The total death toll of Brazil is now almost 337,000, second only to the USA.
But President Jair Bolsonaro continues to oppose any lockdown measures to curb the outbreak.
He argues that the damage to the economy would be worse than the effects of the virus itself, and has tried to reverse some of the restrictions imposed by local authorities in the courts.
Brazil is the largest country in both South America and Latin America. At 8.5 million square kilometers and with over 211 million people, Brazil is the world’s 5th-largest country by area and the sixth most populous. Its capital is Brasília, and its most populous city is São Paulo. The federation is composed of the union of the 26 states and the Federal District. It is the largest country to have Portuguese as an official language and the only one in the Americas; it is also one of the most multicultural and ethnically diverse nations, due to over a century of mass immigration from around the world; as well as the most populous Roman Catholic-majority country.
The COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil is part of the ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus was confirmed to have spread to Brazil on 25 February 2020, when a man from São Paulo tested positive for the virus. The disease had spread to every federative unit of Brazil by 21 March. On 19 June 2020, the country reported its 1 millionth case; at this time, there had been nearly 49,000 reported deaths. As of 25 March 2021, Brazil, with more than 12 million confirmed cases and over 300,000 deaths, has the second-highest number of confirmed cases and deaths from COVID-19 in the world, behind only the United States.
The dangerous pandemic has triggered a variety of responses from federal, state and local governments, having an impact on politics, education, the environment, and the economy. On 27 March 2020 Brazil announced a temporary ban on foreign air travelers and most state governors have imposed quarantines to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

Lulu Santos – Um Certo Alguem Lyrics

(Lulu Santos – Ronaldo Bastos)
Devo evitar teus olhos
Mas não pude reagir
Fico à vontade, então
Acho que é bobagem
A mania de fingir
Negando a intenção (faça não)
Quando um certo alguém
Cruzou o teu caminho
E te mudou a direção
Chego a ficar sem jeito
Mas não deixo de seguir
A tua aparição
Quando um certo alguém

Desperta o sentimento
É melhor não resistir
E se entregar
Me dê a mão, vem ser a minha estrela
Complicação tão fácil de entender
Vamos dançar, luzir a madrugada
Inspiração pra tudo que eu viver…

Brazil coronavirus death toll is 111

A growing number of Latin American nations are confirming Covid-19 infections and Covid-19 deaths. Brazil’s total coronavirus death toll is 111.

Autumn is arriving in the southern hemisphere. Brazil will reduce efforts to fight environmental crimes during the coronavirus outbreak. One of the risks is that reduced protection could lead to a surge in deforestation. The coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak has resulted in fewer enforcement personnel working in the environmental protection field.

Brazil has a developing free-market economy. It is the 9th largest in the world by nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Brazil’s 2019 nominal GDP was R$6.826 trillion or US$1.868 trillion. The country has an estimated US$21.8 trillion worth of natural resources which includes vast amounts of gold, uranium, iron, and timber.

Semblant – Mere Shadow

This is an interesting music band in the South American metal scene. The music sounds melodic, soothing and pleasant. Semblant are becoming more popular in this world. The 2014 release of their second album ‘Lunar Manifesto’ was pretty popular with metal fans around the world. The captivating music received tens of millions of views on YouTube. I am looking forward to the upcoming release of the new album, ‘Obscura’.

This fascinating song is from the album OBSCURA.

Here are the lyrics:

MERE SHADOW

When the walls are closed down, separating me
From the emptiness I’m holding on

Falling apart, a living ruin
Take a deep breath and glance inside
All of my demons refuse to depart

Just know who you are
And never let go… never let go

Somewhere a shadow resists within us
Don’t let it go out of reach, keep it in sight
Free yourself from disbelief or live your life in misery
Somewhere a shadow resists within us

Never ending solitude… within us
Always craving for the truth… within us

Somewhere a shadow resists within us
Don’t let it go out of reach, keep it in sight
Free yourself from disbelief or live your life in misery
Somewhere a shadow resists within us

Jason Derulo – Colors

Lyrics to ‘Jason Derulo – Colors’ by Jason Derulo:

The American singer, in fact, has just announced his collaboration with Coca-Cola to produce “Colors”, the official song of the 2018 Russia World Cup. The song, that will drop on March 6, follows “We Are One”, the official theme that took us through the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. In the launch video, you can appreciate a little sneak peek of “Colors” but fear not… Sooner than you can realize this will be the most broadcasted song by any radio station in the world.

Claudia Leitte – Carnaval lyrics

[Chorus: Claudia Leitte]
This is my Carnaval aye aye aye ha
This is my Carnaval aye aye aye ha
Shake it and drop it, shake it and drop it
You know it’s going down
Everybody dancing, everybody jumping
Let’s get it started now
This is my Carnaval

[Verse 1: Pitbull]
We made history together, opened up the World Cup
We ’bout to do it again, now baby, buckle up
From Miami to Brazil
Claudia pass the torch like Olympics in Rio
Girl, you got that hmmm
Girl, you got that real
Me I got that glow
Yeah, you know the drill
Hit them with that samba, show them what it is
And after Carnaval we can all hit the crib
Obrigado, Claudia Leitte
Here we go again
Speaking to the world
Here we go again
In Carnaval
Here we go again
Now move this drop, everybody hands up

[Chorus: Claudia Leitte]
This is my carnaval aye aye aye ha
This is my carnaval aye aye aye ha
Shake it and drop it, shake it and drop it
You know it’s going down
Everybody dancing, everybody jumping
Let’s get it started now
This is my carnaval aye aye aye ha
This is my carnaval aye aye aye ha
Shake it and drop it, shake it and drop it
You know it’s going down
Everybody dancing, everybody jumping
Let’s get it started now
This is my Carnaval

[Verse 2: Claudia Leitte]
Give me rhythm, give me flow
Give it up, boy, I need some more
Take my body to the floor tonight
Touch me good, baby, come and do me right
Jiggle it and take it low
Blow the trumpets, baby, blow
We can dance until the morning light
We can do, we can do this thing for life
Samba
A little bit of rumba
With a bit of salsa
Play it over and over

[Chorus: Claudia Leitte]
This is my Carnaval aye aye aye ha
This is my Carnaval aye aye aye ha
Shake it and drop it, shake it and drop it
You know it’s going down
Everybody dancing, everybody jumping
Let’s get it started now
This is my Carnaval aye aye aye ha
This is my Carnaval aye aye aye ha
Shake it and drop it, shake it and drop it
You know it’s going down
Everybody dancing, everybody jumping
Let’s get it started now
This is my Carnaval

[Verse 3: Claudia Leitte]
Deja deja de llorar
El passado es pa borrar
Adelante no hay que parar
El camino es mio pa tomar
Sigue sigue, quiero mas
Mi destino y mi compass
Y el amor, yo voy a encontrar
Por que yo siempre voy a amar
Samba
A little bit rumba
With a bit of salsa
Play it over and over

[Chorus: Claudia Leitte]
This is my Carnaval aye aye aye ha
This is my Carnaval aye aye aye ha
Shake it and drop it, shake it and drop it
You know it’s going down
Everybody dancing, everybody jumping
Let’s get it started now
This is my Carnaval aye aye aye ha
This is my Carnaval aye aye aye ha
Shake it and drop it, shake it and drop it
You know it’s going down
Everybody dancing everybody jumping
Let’s get it started now
This is my Carnaval

Declan McKenna – Brazil

I heard you sold the Amazon
To show the country that you’re from
Is where the world should want to be
For find something all people need
I’m faithless now though we win
Every time and I don’t know how
‘Cause I haven’t bought you
And I haven’t sold me
But the people are dying to get on TV
I heard he lives down a river somewhere
With six cars and a grizzly bear
He’s got eyes, but he can’t see
Well, he talks like an angel but he looks like me
Oh Lord, what have I become
I’m the face of God I’m my fathers’ son
I’m not, what you think you see
I know you can’t eat leather, but you can’t stop me
Why would you lie, why would you lie about how you feel
I’ve got a mission and my mission is real
Because you’ve had your chances, yeh you’ve had enough
I’m gonna burn your house down to spread peace and love
And it gets me down
Oh Lord how it gets me down
I heard he lives down a river somewhere
With six cars and a grizzly bear
He’s got eyes, but he can’t see
Well, he talks like an angel but he looks like me
Oh Lord
Oh Lord
Everybody plays a beautiful game out in Brazil
‘Cause it’s all you ever wanted and it’s all that you want still
Don’t you wanna play the beautiful game out in Brazil
I wanna play the beautiful game while I’m in Brazil
‘Cause everybody plays the beautiful game out in Brazil
And it’s all you’ve ever wanted, and it’s all that you want still
Don’t you wanna play the beautiful game out in Brazil
Oh yeah
I heard he lives down a river somewhere
With six cars and a grizzly bear
He’s got eyes, but he can’t see
Well, he talks like an angel but he looks like me
I heard he lives down a river somewhere
With six cars and a grizzly bear
He’s got eyes, but he can’t see
Well, he talks like an angel but he looks like me

Michael Franks – Down In Brazil lyrics

Down in Brazil
It takes a day to walk a mile
Time just stand still
And when the people you meet look at you they smile
They still believe in style
They serve you with their sambas ’til
You really know you’re down in ol’ Brazil
You can tell you’re down in ol’ Brazil

Down in Brazil
They’ve never heard of win or lose
If you can’t feel
Then all those cafe ole girls in high heel shoes
Will really cure your blues
It seems they all just aim to please
Those women sway like wind in my banana trees
Then you know you’re down in ol’ Brazil

Down in Brazil
They know a million ways to play
You start to feel
And when you’re happy
It’s the same as when you pray
You’d think you get away
Then you know you never will
Now when you’ve been down in ol’ Brazil
Now when you are down in ol’ Brazil

Down in ol’ Brazil
Down in ol’ Brazil
Down in ol’ Brazil
Down in ol’ Brazil
